THE BIO IT COALITION LAUNCHES GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS AND POLICY COMMITTEE: Addressing Issues, Initiatives And Programs Relating To The Convergence Of Bioscience, Technology And Business

The weakening of the U.S. economy presents a challenge to the American government and industries to lead in a new era of achievement to re-capture our historic commitment to, and mastery of, science, technology and innovation.  One important aspect of these efforts is to strengthen the convergence of bioscience, information technology, business, and academia to bring about advances in biomedical research, new complementary, assistive technologies and medicine to deliver new life-saving ways to diagnose, prevent, and treat diseases.

As policy-makers focus on improving and providing a stimulus to the bioscience and technology industries, the BIO IT Coalition has launched a Government Affairs and Policy (GAP) Committee to provide its members, and other interested parties, with current information about legislation and governing bodies regulating these industries.  This committee will serve as a source of information to Coalition members and government officials on the convergence of bioscience, IT and business and the needed education, collaboration, innovation, and partnerships necessary for bringing about improvements in healthcare, the workforce and our economy.

"We are excited to add a new focus within BIO IT to better serve our members and educate the public.  This change in administration will bring about a renewed focus on, and opportunities for, critical US policies governing science, technology and education, that all Americans should be aware of," said Chris Royse, Chairman, BIO IT Coalition.

Find out about the GAP Committee at: http://www.bioitcoalition.org/kcenter.GAP.html. See how you can stay informed about new federal administration policies and to read about the efforts of state and local governments in the metropolitan area to shape the future business and practice of healthcare through science, technology and business.

The BIO IT Coalition brings together members of the life science, information technology, and business communities through interactive, content driven programs which highlight innovation, investment, education, and collaboration.  These events promote partnerships and strategic alliances that will result in the faster development and delivery of new therapies and diagnostics, better patient care, and other life science related technologies and services.  For more information about the Coalition and its monthly programs and more, visit http://www.bioitcoalition.org.
